Total Support Service for Students Studying Overseas

From inquiries concerning sudden injury or sickness, stolen belongings and damaged items, and liability cases, we accept calls concerning various troubles encountered overseas. We also offer medical and health consultation services over the phone in order to actively support the students studying overseas. Moreover, we strive to provide helpful advice and tips that will support the student’s life abroad.

1. All calls and information consolidated to "Global Risk Control Support Desk(INTAC)"

  • We have installed an exclusive telephone line for students studying overseas, and accept calls 24/7 at our office in Tokyo.
    We are able to accept calls concerning inquiries such as injury, sickness, stolen or damaged belongings, liability, or even personal questions regarding life aborad, and we will answer your calls with hospitality. We are able to communicate in both Japanese and English.

2. Updating every information to the Contractor

  • Medical cases (injury or sickness):
    We will report information to our contractors. If the case involve serious accidents that require urgent action, we will immediately contact the contractors to update the situation.
  • In-patient and repatriation cases:
    We will upate the medical condition of the insured to the contractor.
  • Non-medical cases (stolen/damaged belongings or liability cases, general inquiries concerning life overseas):
    We will upate the medical condition of the insured to the contractor.

※ Updates to the contractor from our Global Risk Control Support Desk will only be performed under the circumstance that the insured has agreed to release personal information to the contractor.

3. Assistance Services for Students Studying Abroad

  • Recommending a local hospital:
    We will locate and recommend a hospital where consultations are available in Japanese. We will make appointments, arrange ground transfers, and give advice on how to consult the hospital.
  • Providing Cashless Medical Service:
    We offer a system where you do not have to pay upfront (cashless) at the hospital to have a consultation.
  • Arrange a medical interpreter:
    We will arrange a medical interpreter if necessary.
  • Monitor the medical condition of the insured when they are hospitalized:
    We will monitor the student's medical condition and confirm the expected date of discharge.
  • Arrange a repatriation:
    We will arrange a repatriation to Japan or to the nearest region of medical excellence.
  • Arrange Escort Doctor and Nurse:
    We will arrange an Escort Doctor or Nurse to accompany the repatriation.
  • Arrange Body Repatriation:
    If an insured passes away while traveling abroad, we will arrange a body repatriation to Japan.
  • Support the flight and hotel arrangements of the rescuers:
    We will support the family members who travel abroad for the purpose of rescuing their children with flight and hotel arrangements.
  • Respond to inquiries concerning how to file an insurance claim:
    We will explain the necessary documents for filing a claim, and inform the claim address to send the claims to.

4. Overseas Health and Medical Telephone Consultation Service

  • We have an exclusive telephone line for Tokio Marine Nichido Medical Service (TMS) to offer health and medical consultation over the phone which is available 24/7.
  • Experienced Japanese Doctors and Nurses are able to respond to emergency health and medical situations and mental inquiries. If the medical team determines that the insured needs to consult a Doctor right away, the call will be transferred to Support Desk so that we can offer our assistance service. We accept calls from contractors and parents of the insured.
  • Specialist health and medical consultation service (advanced appointments necessary):
    Japanese specialist doctors (including specialists for mental illness) will provide professional advice such as explaining the latest treatment available. (We also accept calls from family members or contractors.) The operation hours for this service are on weekdays 9:00~12:00m and 13:00~17:00 (appointments can be made 24/7).

5. Support Services for Students Studying Overseas

  • Offer troubleshooting tips for various troubles:
    If the inquiry requires specific knowledge or if the situation is not an emergency, we may consult with the contractor in order to solve the inquiry.
  • Offer support for stolen or lost passports:
    We will look up the address and contact number of the local Embassy and advise the necessary documents required to reissue the passport.
  • Offer support for stolen or credit cards:
    We will look up the credit card company’s contact number and guide students to stop the credit card first. Afterwards, we may give general advice if needed.
